Hon. Lady Justice Hildah Chibomba – President of the Constitutional Court (Retired)

 

PROFILE

Hon. Lady Justice Hildah Chibomba was the President of the Constitutional Court. She  was  appointed to the Constitutional Court on 11th March, 2016. Justice Chibomba holds a Bachelor of  Laws from the University of Zambia and a Master of Laws degree from the University of Bristol. She was admitted to the bar in 1982.

 

Prior to her appointment as President of the Constitutional Court, Justice Chibomba served as a Judge of the Supreme Court.  Justice Chibomba has served in various other positions which include Judge of the High Court from 1997 to 2009. She served as Principal State Advocate/Head of the International Law and Agreements in the Attorney General’s Chambers from 1993 to 1997. While in the Ministry of Legal Affairs,  she also served as a Senior State Advocate from 1990 to 1993, as Assistant Senior State Advocate, Civil Litigation Department from 1989 to 1990. She began her legal career in the Judiciary as Senior Resident Magistrate and Resident Magistrate at  Lusaka and Kitwe from1982 to 1989.

Justice Chibomba was the Chairperson of the Zambia Law Development Commission from 2004 to 2012.

She is a member of a number of professional associations, including the Zambia Association of Women Judges and the International Association of Women Judges.
